General Questions

What is AEO and how is it different from SEO?
AI Engine Optimization (AEO) focuses on optimizing your content for AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google's AI features. While SEO focuses on ranking in traditional search results, AEO focuses on being cited in AI-generated responses, being understood correctly by AI, and signaling credibility to AI systems.
Why does AEO matter for my business?
As more users get answers from AI assistants instead of traditional search, having your content cited by AI becomes crucial for visibility and traffic. Studies show that AI-powered search is growing rapidly, and businesses that optimize for AI visibility now will have a significant advantage.
How often should I run AEO analyses?
We recommend running a full site analysis monthly, and individual page analyses whenever you make significant content changes. After implementing fixes, re-analyze to verify improvements. For active content sites, weekly monitoring of key pages is ideal.

Analysis & Credits

How much does each analysis cost?
Each page analysis costs 1 credit. Single page scans use 1 credit, while Smart Scans (multi-page) use 1 credit per page analyzed. New accounts receive 5 free credits to try the platform.
What if I run out of credits?
You can upgrade to a Pro or Enterprise plan for monthly credit allocations. Credits on paid plans roll over for up to 3 months, so you never lose unused credits. You can also purchase additional credit packs as needed.
How long does an analysis take?
Single page analyses typically complete in 30-60 seconds. Smart Scans (multi-page) take longer depending on the number of pages - approximately 30-45 seconds per page. You can navigate away and return later; we'll save your results.
Can I analyze password-protected pages?
Currently, AEO Analyzer can only analyze publicly accessible pages. This is because our crawlers (and AI crawlers) need direct access to your content. If your page requires authentication, you'll need to temporarily make it public or provide a non-authenticated version.

Reports & Exports

Can I export my analysis results?
Yes! You can export results in multiple formats: PDF reports for stakeholder presentations, JSON data for custom integrations, and raw data available in the Raw Data tab. Use the Export buttons in your report or copy data directly from the Raw Data tab.
How long are my analysis results stored?
Analysis results are stored indefinitely for paid accounts. Free tier accounts have results stored for 30 days. You can always re-export your data before it expires. We recommend downloading PDF reports for important analyses.
Can I share reports with my team?
Yes! Pro and Enterprise plans include team collaboration features. You can invite team members to your workspace, share reports via unique URLs, and export PDF reports to share with stakeholders who don't have accounts.

Premium Features

How does Auto-Fix work without changing my source code?
Auto-Fix uses client-side JavaScript injection. When a visitor loads your page, the script fetches your fix rules from our servers and applies them in real-time to the DOM. This means fixes are applied on page load without modifying your source files. You can toggle individual fixes on/off from the dashboard at any time.
What AI platforms does Mention Tracking monitor?
AI Mention Tracking monitors ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), Perplexity, Google Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. You can configure which platforms to monitor and set up custom prompts to check how your brand appears in industry-specific queries. The system tracks sentiment, citations, and share of voice.
Can I use the MCP Server with my own AI agents?
Yes! The MCP (Model Context Protocol) server works with any MCP-compatible AI agent, including Claude Code, custom agents built with Anthropic's SDK, and other AI tools. Generate an API key from your account, configure the SSE endpoint URL, and your agent can run scans and retrieve results programmatically.

Technical Questions

Which AI crawlers should I allow in robots.txt?
For maximum AI visibility, allow these user agents: GPTBot (OpenAI), ChatGPT-User (OpenAI chat), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), Claude-Web (Anthropic web), PerplexityBot, Google-Extended (Gemini), Bingbot (ChatGPT Search via Bing). Add "User-agent: [bot-name]" and "Allow: /" for each.
What is llms.txt and do I need one?
llms.txt is a proposed standard (like robots.txt) that provides structured information specifically for AI systems. It includes your site description, key pages, contact info, and content guidelines. While not universally adopted yet, implementing it signals AI-readiness and may improve how AI systems understand your content.
Why did my score change between analyses?
Score changes can occur for several reasons: content changes on your page, changes to external factors (like indexation status), improvements to our analysis algorithms, or variations in AI-powered content analysis. Minor fluctuations (±3 points) are normal. Significant changes usually indicate real content or technical changes.
